PlaKard
Coming from Malta’s local music scene, Matthew John Scicluna and Kyle Drakard kicked off a musical experiment taking them on a journey to share music.
In August 2016 they created what now a days is known as ‘PlaKard’.
‘PlaKard’ experiments with a mixture of contemporary jazz, hip hop and experimental music together with other genres that happen to pop out and flow through in a given moment.
In January 2018 ‘The PlaKard Project’ recorded their debut album ‘Jump The Fence’. This release also features Matthew Camilleri on guitar and other session players being Angela Vella Zarb on vocals, Mark Harrison on Alto Saxophone and Warren Galea on Keys. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by David Vella at Temple Studios Malta.
The band launched this release live in concert on 14th April 2018.
In April 2019, The PlaKard Project toured the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) showcasing their debut album 'Jump The Fence' together with Jes Psaila on guitar and James Cummings on Alto Saxophone.
Kicking off 2020 with a line - up change, as well as a rebrand, the band welcomes Patryk Cutajar aka ' Ricky ' on Guitar.
New material is in the progress of being written as PlaKard prepares to unleash upon Malta's upcoming Festivals as well as opportunities internationally.
It's not only the set list and music that makes PlaKard. We organised sessions where listeners can easily understand that everyone is born a musician. We are also sharing how music is a tool and philosophy of life, a therapy, mastery, a language and a way of expression like how we believe all arts are.
Our aim is to share music, be innovative and creative in many ways and to collaborate and experiment with other musicians, artists, friends and people.
Respect and Stay tuned!
